Abstract |
I t was the aim of this study to investigate the expression of GLUT-4. AMPK and PI3-kinase protein in skeletal muscle by a single bout of aerobic exercise. The male Sprague-Dawley rats underwent the treadmill running at the acute aerobic exercise (32 m/nlin, 15^(??), 90 min). The GLUT-4 expression, AMPK and Pl3-kimase activity in gastrocnemius and soleus muscles were examined by Western blotting. By the acute aerobic exercise. the expression of GLUT-4 in gastrocnemius was significantly increased in the period of recovery and AMPK activity only was higher immediately after exercise. The activity of PT3-kinase was not changed in all period of recovery. In soleus muscle, CLUT-4 expression was increased all time and AMPK was significantly increased at immediately and 24h after exercise but P13-kinase activity was not altered all time point. These finding suggests that GLUT-4 plays a role in the glucose transport in skeletal muscles and AMPK activity is essential step in the GLUT-4 expression but Pl3-kinase is not. |
