Effects of Endurnace Exercise on Plasma Adiponectine concentration and Lipid Metabolism of Skeletal Muscle in Streptozotocin-induced Diabetic Rats
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate effects of exercise on adiponectine and lipid metabolism in streptozotocininduced diabetic rats. We used 28 male Sprague-Dawley rats aging 4 to 6 weeks. Rats were rondomly assigned into control(CON), control-exercise(CON-EX), streptozotocin induced group(STZ) and STZ-exercise(STZ-EX) groups. The exercise was loaded with treadmill runining for 5 days per week during 6 weeks All experimental procedures were carried out following overnight fasting 40 hours after last exercise. Plasma triglyceride, glucose and insulin concentrations increased respectively in STZ group compared with CON group. and decreased by exercise(p < .05). Plasma adiponectin were decreased by streptozotocin administration group but increased by exercise. Long-chain fatty acid oxidation rate in gastrocnemius muscle were decreased by streptozotocin administration but red gastrocnemius muscle was increased by exercise for 6 weeks. These results showed that hyperlipidema(hyperinsulinemia) by STZ administration was improved by exercise training on the treadmill for 6weeks.
Key Words: streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats, exercise, adiponectine
